Russian Week of High Technologies opens at EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds

Today, Expocentre Fairgrounds has opened its doors to Russian Week of High Technologies 2023 (RWHT). It is one of the largest series of events in Russia and the CIS, which brings together several trade shows, forums and conferences devoted to information technology, telecommunications, navigation and telematics.

Key events of the Week are the Sviaz 2023 International Exhibition for Information and Communications Technology, the Autonet International Forum of Innovative Transport Technology, the Sphere International Navigation Forum and Congress, the Navitech 2023 Display of Navigation Systems, Technologies and Services, the Sviaz 2023 Forum, and the Russian Software Forum: Effective Solutions for the Digital Economy. 

The centrepiece of Russian Week of High Technologies is the Sviaz 2023 international exhibition. This year it will be the 35th anniversary edition of the exhibition, which will welcome more than 260 companies from Russia and other countries. The showcase will occupy over 3,000 sq m.

For the first time since 2019, Sviaz will have a large China Pavilion, which is organised in partnership with CCPIT – the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, TEEMA – the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association, and the organiser of the user electronics Smart Device Show.

More than 90 companies from China and Taiwan will be exhibiting solutions in the fields of telecommunications equipment, telematics and navigation, geographic information systems, unmanned agricultural solutions, mini-PCs and laptops, ODN solutions for FTTx networks, data centers, industrial air conditioning, PV inverters and energy storage, cable products, smart home infrastructure, active and passive network equipment, telecommunications software, solutions and equipment for wireless networks, industrial radio communications, and cybersecurity.

The exhibition also features 10 Iranian brands showcased within the national Iran Pavilion.

Russian Week of High Technologies was included in the list of main activities of the Decade of Science and Technology and in the Designing the Future initiative, which aims to attract talented young people to research and development, promoting the involvement of researchers and developers in solving critical problems of the development of society and the country.

Chair at the RWHT Organising Committee and Deputy Chair at the Russian State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education Vladimir Kononov hosted the official opening ceremony and reminded that RWHT was part of the NTI-Expo (Science-Technology-Innovations Expo) project, organised by the Russian State Duma, the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and EXPOCENTRE and supported by a number of federal ministries and agencies. “NTI-Expo provides a unique opportunity to bring together business leaders, leading experts, representatives of the legislative and executive authorities, and the media on one platform,” said Vladimir Kononov.

A welcome address by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko was read by his assistant Sergey Shcherbakov.

Russian Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media Maxim Parshin said that Russian Week of High Technologies had established itself as a professional platform for in-depth and serious discussions of the most relevant issues related to the development of high technologies, telecommunications and software.

Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Vasily Shpak expressed confidence that “in the Eurasian space we are able to fully ensure our development based on the understanding of our technological sovereignty.” It cannot be done within a single country, but we can do it together in the Eurasian space. According to him, today's event will launch new cooperation to achieve these goals.

A greeting from Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov was read by the director of one of the ministry's departments Ekaterina Chaban.

Vice President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Maxim Fateev, on behalf of the system of chambers of commerce and industry, congratulated on the opening of Russian Week of High Technologies and stressed that today's event is one more step towards the technological sovereignty of our country.

Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Evgeny Kablov read out a welcome address from RAS President and Academician Gennady Krasnikov and added that more research was needed today in terms of developing materials for information technology production industry.

Deputy Head of the Moscow City Information Technologies Department Alexander Gorbatko said that the department traditionally supported the industry and the exhibition, which enabled the introduction of a large number of new services in Moscow that residents used in their daily lives.

Head of the Main Directorate for Innovative Development at the Russian Ministry of Defence Aleksandr Osadchuk assured that we had learned to work under sanctions and to develop and implement domestic solutions.

Deputy Minister for Technology and Innovation of the Ministry of Communications of the Islamic Republic of Iran Meisam Abedi welcomed the exhibition and spoke about the latest developments in the Iranian information community.

Director General at EXPOCENTRE AO Alexey Vyalkin wrapped up the opening ceremony by expressing confidence that all the discussions over the four days at the RWHT would result in specific recommendations to support the industry.

Russian Week of High Technologies 2023 is open till April 14.
