The 8th edition of the Navitech International Exhibition, which ran from May 10 through 13, 2016 at Expocentre, was a key event in the field of navigation systems, technologies and services in different areas of economy and business. 

The trade show was organized by Expocentre. The show strategic partner was GLONASS Union. The project was supported by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Association of Designers, Manufactures and Users of Equipment and Applications based on Global Navigation Satellite Systems GLONASS/GNSS Forum. The trade show ran under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.  

This year Navitech was co-located with Sviaz and STL. Systems for Transport and Logistics and ran as part of the Russian Week of High Technologies. Such a format has significantly increased the number of professional visitors to the show, raised the level and scope of business meetings. Co-location of these projects under one roof intensifies joint efforts of the government officials and businessmen aimed at widespread use of global navigation technologies in the most important sectors of economy.

Within the Russian Week of High Technologies the worlds and Russian leading experts discussed the development strategy of the navigation market in Russia and worldwide, new integration services based on satellite navigation, drones, Internet of things, safe cities, smart cars and homes, precision navigation, and ERA-GLONASS further development.

At Navitech 2016 new products were showcased by 53 companies from Belarus, Canada, China, Lithuania, and Russia.

The project attracted such foreign exhibitors as Sierra Wireless (Canada), Shenzhen Meitrack Group (China), Hangzhou Nicigo (China), Gurtam (Belarus), Ruptela (Lithuania), Teltonika (Lithuania).

Among the Russian participants there were Russian Space Systems, Navtelecom, EuroMobile, Gonets Satellite System, Treatface, Prime Time Project, StarLine, Satellite Telecom, Arusnavi/Gelios Soft, Satellite Soft Labs, Fort Telecom, Aurora Mobile Technologies, Autofon, Orlov Region Center of Space Services, Vi-Tel, ServiceSoft, MT System, NTLab, cGuard, SCOUT/Modern Monitoring Technology, Automated Systems of Control, and others.

The latest developments and accomplishments of global and domestic leaders of the navigation market were showcased on the total exhibition space of over 15,000 sq m. The industry experts viewed transport navigation and information systems; intellectual transport systems; high-precision satellite navigation; insurance telematics; systems and technology of indoor positioning and navigation; in-vehicle navigation and information systems, services and equipment; professional navigation equipment, modules and components.

The Skolkovo Innovation Center operated along with the GLONASS Non-Commercial Partnership at the trade show. Its exposition featured developments and end products of the companies included in the Cluster of Space Technologies and Telecommunications related to navigation services of the Skolkovo Foundation. High potential of young teams and their role in the navigation market development was shown in pitch sessions of navigation start-ups.

The central event and the main networking platform to discuss the latest technological and market trends in the navigation industry including development of the GLONASS technologies in Russia and worldwide was the 10th International Navigation Forum organized by the GLONASS/GNSS-Forum Association.

An extensive event program featured lively discussions, key reports, thematic sessions and round tables whose participants were all key experts and market leaders.

On the Forums first day the participants discussed the most burning issues of the navigation market including promising trends in different kinds of unmanned vehicles, future development of products and services for different economic sectors and the consumers using navigation technology as well as opportunities for international collaboration in the navigation business.

Alexander Bondarenko, Head of NP GLONASS International Project Department, said that the Navigation Forum and the Navitech exhibition annually bring together key players of the navigation services market. I am pleased to note that apart from traditional telematics solutions presented at the Forum and the show, we also viewed new technology, ideas and solutions demonstrated by young teams at the Innovative Project Competition. Most of the technology and products showcased can be exported in Russia and throughout the world.

The impressive event of the Russian Week of High Technologies was the First Open Drone Racing organized by the federal network operator NP GLONASS in cooperation with Yota mobile operator.

17 strongest participants from Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, Nizhny Novgorod, Dubai, and other cities were selected to take part in the main competition. The winner of the Russian races was Vladimir Mesheryakov (the city of Moscow), a bronze medalist of the world competition held in Dubai in March. The second place went to Roman Yudichev (the city of Domodedovo), and the third place went to Ruslan Ibragimov (the city of Makhachkala).

The 8th edition of the Navitech International Exhibition and the 10th International Navigation Forum showed a growing interest in these events on the part visitors and industry experts. The participants were more than 120 leading Russian and foreign designers and manufacturers of the navigation industry. Visitor attendance amounted to over 7,000 people.

The 9th International Exhibition Navitech 2017 will run on April 25-28 at Expocentre Fairgrounds.
