The 6th International Satellite Navigation Forum was launched within The Innovative Russia Week on April 17 at Expocentre Fairgrounds.

The Forum is the central event of the year in the field of the social and commercial use of satellite navigation technologies and, first of all, the GLONASS Russian satellite navigation system.

This year the Forum is attended by more than 1200 delegates. The business-related programme of the Forum includes 5 roundtable discussions and 7 thematic breakout sessions on various aspects of the use of navigation technologies involving over 450 leading specialists from 16 countries.

Forum was opened with the plenary session devoted to the state policy in the field of implementation of navigation technologies.

Yevgeny Primakov, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of NIS GLONASS, noted the unlimited possibilities of satellite navigation technologies for the organization of comfortable and safe social environment, increase of the efficiency of all levels of state management, and modernization of infrastructure, first of all, in the sphere of transport.

The Russian satellite navigation system GLONASS has become widely spread. The government of the Russian Federation is constantly focused on the development of navigation technologies of the country. Success in this area is impossible without using of the international experience and cooperation, and the Forum will facilitate this task, emphasized Yevgeny Primakov. He also stressed that there are illimitable opportunities for the private and state partnership in the sphere of the implementation of the navigation technologies.

The plenary session was attended by Vladimir Popovkin, the Head Federal Space Agency, Alexander Kasyanov, the Head of the Federal Service for Supervision of Transport, Andrey Nedosekov, the Deputy Transport Minister, Rene Pishel, the Head of the Permanent Representative Office of the Europe Space Agency in the Russian Federation, Alexander Gurko, the Chief Executive Officer of NIS GLONASS, Yevgeny Shmelev, the Vice President for Technical Development of AVTOVAZ and other managers and experts of the industry.

The 6th International Satellite Navigation Forum will continue its work April 18.
