International Navigation Forum brought together prominent Russian and international experts

Expocentre is hosting the 13th International Navigation Forum as part of the Russian Week of High Technologies organised by the GLONASS / GNSS-Forum Association in partnership with the GLONASS Union and the Avtonet Scientific and Technical Association. The Forum became the main event of the event programme of the 11th edition of the International Exhibition for Navigation Systems, Technologies and Services Navitech 2019.

The Forum plenary session discussed the development of satellite navigation systems, new business models, navigation and digital technologies in logistics.

In his welcoming address to the session participants, Dmitry Peskov, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation on issues of digital and technological development, focused on the state policy and high-tech initiatives. Speaking about the development of the National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence, he urged the developers of navigation solutions to get involved in this work.

The global navigation market is rapidly developing and penetrating new areas. Its volume today is $75 billion, but Russia's share is still insignificant, stated the plenary session moderator, President of GLONASS NP Alexander Gurko. He examined in detail the main trends in the application of navigation technologies, and noted that the drivers of the satellite navigation market in Russia are the projects Plato and Era-GLONASS.

The state and prospects for the development of the GLONASS system, the plans of Roscosmos State Corporation in the development and use of unmanned vehicles and robotic systems were presented by Yuri Urlichich, First Deputy General Director for the development of the orbital group and attractive projects of Roscosmos State Corporation.

Denis Pak, Director of the Automotive and Railway Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, devoted his presentation to the tasks and prospects for the development of Avtonet markets.

The plenary session was attended by Arkady Dvorkovich, Chairman of the Skolkovo Foundation, Rene Pishel, Head of the Permanent Mission of the European Space Agency in the Russian Federation, Sharafat Gadimova, UNOOSA Director of International Programs, Boris Glazkov, Vice-President of PJSC Rostelecom, Tigran Khudaverdyan, General Director of Yandex. Taxi, Dmitry Tarasov, Director of Sales in Russia and CIS States of Iridium Communications LLC, and other experts.
